0009 85/11/08 01:29:41 * CM4NEWS SURVIVES HRR, BECOMES OFFICIAL *
---- -------- -------- -------------------------------------------------

The CM4NEWS Publisher has just survived a tough HRR. The Publisher's
objective for 1986 is a continuing support of CM4NEWS, which started as
somebody's brainchild in the very stormy Friday evening May 24, 1985.
CM4NEWS is now a part of what Mr. Justice Eric Livermore calls the
"world-class design system", and the Publisher can officially pursue his
lifelong dream of world-wide distribution of CM4NEWS, linked to BNR's
CBDS/SDS release! The CM4NEWS EXEC was captured on DEX4 October 31 as
the first step of this bureaucratic institutionalization of CM4NEWS.
However, there will be no more entertainment portion of CM4NEWS after
the official 3.03 release in January, 1986 (unless instructed otherwise
by Cesar Cesaratto, of course).

Despite John Roth's firm commitment to spend $4.4 million this year in
support of the university interaction and co-op student programs, the
CM4NEWS Publisher has learned that Division 5 is getting fewer students
next year than this year. Robert Hum made an excellent comment October
29 on the miserable situation of much abused students at BNR. He said
"Students are like prostitutes. You pay them, and they do the work!"
The innocent CM4NEWS Publisher wonders if Robert was speaking from his
own experience.

Go S. Sunatori was very pleased to know that his entry of "Silicon Oasis"
as a new name of the Corkstown cafeteria was the first runner-up, after
the winner "The Hungry Wafer" by Rod McInnis (chips, P.6, October 1985).
Go suspects that Tom Kozelj, who is working on gallium arsenide instead
of silicon, blackmailed the selection committee.

Charles Douglas-Home, editor of The Times, died of cancer October 29.
He was 48. Douglas-Home had edited the paper since 1982, presiding over
a rise in circulation to nearly 500,000 from under 300,000. The CM4NEWS
Publisher, who had edited CM4NEWS since May 24, 1985, presiding over a
rise in circulation to nearly 50 from under 30, wishes to express his
deep regret for the death of his colleague.
