BNR Core Purpose

Petronius Arbiter, 210 B.C.

"We trained hard... But it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams, we would be reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing; and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralisation."

Go Simon Sunatori is very very happy with his job!?

Grant introduced Colin Beaumont, Chief Engineer BNR to lab council memebers. Colin came to give us background of the recent "layoffs". Colin made the following remarks to several questions from LC:

• The individual whose skills were not matching their job requirement were let go. Usually this action should have been part of the regular MFA process but this time management took group action. People not happy with job or not performing to expected levels (no suitable match for their job skills in BNR) were in this category. No one was let go if there was any doubt about the decision.

• Overall BNR expects growth in head count but BNR Ottawa labs can expect to see levelling off of the head count. But the "skill mismatch" job severence will continue.
