I put a garlic clove in a microwave oven, and cooked at High for 30 seconds. After about 15 seconds, the garlic clove started to steam, then moved when the steam jet came out of one end of the garlic clove.
This exciting phenomenon effectively demonstrates a 4-step conversion of energy.
- Electrical energy -> Microwave energy -> Thermal energy -> Kinetic energy
Sometimes, the garlic clove generates whistling sound instead of moving. It is still a 4-step conversion of energy.
- Electrical energy -> Microwave energy -> Thermal energy -> Acoustic energy
