The following is an excerpt from the advertisement on the Ottawa Citizen newspaper 2010-03-26 by Ontario Power Generation.

In the future, we could be making electricity at our Atikokan coal-fuelled generating station using wood fibre fuel that's clean, renewable and made in Ontario.

Burning solid biomass is certainly cleaner than burning coal. However, it cannot be said to be "clean", as explained in an article from wikipedia.

As with any fire, burning wood fuel creates numerous by-products, some of which may be useful (heat and steam), and others that are undesirable, irritating or dangerous.

Wood combustion products can include toxic and carcinogenic substances.

The combustion of wood fibre is "cleaner than coal", but claiming the combustion to be "clean" is misleading, and amounts to false advertisement.
