Here is a shot at the central library of Bibliothèque de Gatineau in Gatineau, QC, Canada. There is a fire alarm higher up, close to the ceiling.
Close examination revealed that the RED device is in fact not a hand pull station but an Edwards Genesis series fire alarm horn.
My geological engineer/exploration geologist daughter Évelyne commented "I know how I'd reach for it. Looks fun." However, some other guys would try to reach for it, but lose balance when falling to the floor, hit the handrail on the head and die! Fatally serious security issue!!".
