- Great Job Coach! is special. Its contributors are experienced, successful, and caring coaches who express their views on a range of coaching topics from the perspective of having been there, of having lived the life!
- Coaches of any level, from beginner to gnarled veteran, who wish to explore beyond the formal offerings of the National Coaching Certification Program, will delight in the information available in this this book. The "art" side of coaching will always be important to coaching effectiveness and coaching success, and much of the information contained in these pages relates to this process.
- The coverage of topics is comprehensive. The contributors - 21 coaches from professional, national, and university teams - are amongst the most knowledgeable and respected in their sport. They have produced national and international athletes over long periods of time. We are able to share their views and anecdotes on a wide range of relevant topics. This include early sport career; early coaching career; coaching philosophies; planning; goal-setting and team selection; training; preparing for competition, competition issues, post game analysis; the amateur game, the business of sport; looking back and thinking ahead, ways to the top and enhancing coaching knowledge.
- Each of these topic areas, and other, are treated in detail and in very personal ways according to the perspective of the contributor. There is a mass of extremely useful information. While the bias is towards high performance coaching and the book deals primarily with the process of becoming an expert coach, there is much that is applicable to any coach who wishes to improve.
